Cherry Pop Events Founder Laura Kinniburgh Featured in VoyageLA’s Inspiring Stories Series

Every now and then, someone asks about the story behind Cherry Pop Events — how it started, what shaped the philosophy behind it, and why we approach weddings the way we do.

Recently, that conversation took a bigger stage.

Cherry Pop Events founder Laura Kinniburgh was featured in the Inspiring Stories series by VoyageLA Magazine, a publication known for highlighting local entrepreneurs, creatives, and business leaders who are shaping their communities.

The interview dives into Laura’s journey through more than two decades in the events industry, the philosophy that drives Cherry Pop Events today, and the lessons learned along the way.

VoyageLA Interview Cherry Pop Events

From Event Experience to Event Leadership

After more than 20 years working in events, Laura saw a pattern. Beautiful ideas weren’t the problem.

Execution was.

Weddings are emotional, complex, and fast-moving. Vendors, timelines, logistics, personalities, and hundreds of details all collide in a single day. Without strong coordination, even the most beautiful plans can unravel.

That insight led to the creation of Cherry Pop Events — a company focused not just on planning, but on orchestrating the entire event experience.

As Laura explains in the interview:

“I run weddings like live productions — uniting the vendor team and staying three steps ahead so my clients experience nothing but joy.”

A Philosophy Built on Teamwork

One of the themes highlighted in the interview is Laura’s approach to vendor collaboration.

At Cherry Pop Events, weddings aren’t seen as a collection of separate vendors doing individual jobs. They are treated as a single team producing one live event together.

When vendors work collaboratively with clear communication and mutual respect, the result is a seamless experience for the couple and their guests.

That philosophy has become a defining part of the Cherry Pop Events brand.

Balancing Entrepreneurship and Motherhood

The interview also touches on another important part of Laura’s story: building Cherry Pop Events while raising her family as a working single mom.

That experience shaped the leadership style she brings to her work today — one grounded in resilience, clarity, and calm decision-making under pressure.

Those qualities translate directly to event day, where couples rely on a steady professional to manage the countless moving pieces behind the scenes.

Looking Ahead

Today, Cherry Pop Events continues to focus on day-of wedding coordination, helping couples who have done much of their planning enjoy their celebration without worrying about logistics.

Laura is also currently documenting a transparency-driven project called the Atomic Love Challenge, where she is planning a full wedding for 75 guests on a $5,000 budget to demonstrate practical planning strategies and vendor collaboration in action.

It’s another example of the Cherry Pop Events mission: helping couples approach their weddings with confidence, clarity, and a little bit of sass.
